Looking for Host Families: International Youth Exchange

Host Families Wanted

Rotary Club of Sun Peaks is exploring the possibility of doing a Youth Exchange in our community in the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for expressions of interest from families who might want to consider hosting an International Student. This is an incredibly rewarding experience and there are members of our club here in Sun Peaks who have been host families and would be available to share those stories with you.

Rotary has offered this well established program since 1929. The international students are well supported by the local club and our regional Rotary district. They are typically 15-18 years old. There is a small allowance paid to host families to cover some food and expenses.

We are looking for 4 families. 3 would offer hosting for just over 3 months each and the 4th would serve as a spare. Ideally, you would have your own children in the house but many host families are retired folks who want to be involved. There is a short course to complete online which is well written and provides lots of information. There is also a simple background check to complete

Students Participation

If you know of any students who are in grades 8-10 this school year (22-23) who might be interested in going on an international exchange, you could let them know that there will be an information meeting in May in Sun Peaks. That date will be announced closer to May.
