Volunteers Needed
Oct 5, 2022
The Rotary Charity Bottle Depot is operated under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Rotary Club of Sun Peaks, the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality, Adaptive Sports Sun Peaks (ASSP) and the Sun Peaks Education Society (SPES).
The Rotary Club of Sun Peaks manages the operations, and the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality provides land to operate on.
The proceeds raised end up back into the community and are divided between Adaptive Sports Sun Peaks, the Sun Peaks Education Society and the Rotary Club of Sun Peaks. The Educational Society and Adaptive Sport rely on these funds for operational costs.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Every can or bottle dropped off is one less that ends up in the landfill. The Rotary Charity Bottle Depot is a convenient place for Sun Peaks residents and tourists to leave their bottles instead of throwing them in the trash.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Depot is managed and operated on a purely volunteer basis. Volunteers are normally scheduled in pairs and are made up of Rotarians, members of the community, SPES students/families, members of the Adaptive Sport community and seasonal residents who want to help for a couple of months while living here temporarily.
New volunteers can sign up and indicate that they need someone to train them by adding 'training required' after their name.
One of our veteran volunteers can arrange to provide training. Once you are comfortable with the process, please sign up for shifts suitable to your schedule.
